F2 grid complete as Villagomez rejoins VAR

The FIA Formula 2 grid for 2026 is now set, with the announcement that Mexican driver Rafael Villagomez will rejoin Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR).

Villagomez, 24, will race in the series for a third consecutive season after a solid sophomore season that saw him secure two podiums with two third places, taken in Barcelona and Lusail.

The move sees him stretch into a fifth consecutive campaign representing VAR, having raced for them in Formula 3, although his family is rumoured to own a controlling stake in the Dutch based team.

The Mexican driver will line up alongside Argentinian driver, Nicolás Varrone, who will debut in the series, and his move is the final piece of the puzzle for the season grid.
