After six years competing in the world of rally, and winning two WRC championships, Kalle Rovanperä, announced his plans to switch to Japan’s Super Formula series.

Rovanperä has gained experience in the world of circuit racing, having competed in Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux alongside his partial WRC season. He had quick success in the Benelux series, winning three races, whilst also taking four wins in his WRC campaign.
Super Formula will not be Rovanperä’s first experience in single seaters, as he tested Formula 4 and Formula Renault 3.5 cars at the Red Bull Ring last year. Additionally, he was given the opportunity to drive Red Bull’s 2012 Formula One car, the RB8 at the Austrian circuit.

In a quote, Rovanperä claimed that “This decision has not been an easy one,” but admitted that it is one he has “been thinking about for a while”.
Having achieved immense WRC success at such a young age, many people will be watching Kalle Rovanperä with bated breath, waiting to examine his maiden Super Formula season.
