If it starts with cars going four wide into turn 1, it’s probably a good sign for the rest of the race. Mexico usually serves up something a little different to other races on the calendar, and 2025 has been no different.

Lando Norris, starting from pole, has had a habit of not maintaining that position on first laps of races but this time, held the lead despite chaos all around him. Max Verstappen, starting fifth found himself one of four challenging for the lead at turn one, joined by Norris and the Ferrari cars of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Norris now leads the championship by a single point.

Norris held the lead and soon scarpered off into the distance, eventually winning the race by over 30 seconds on what seemed to be a nice, relaxing Sunday drive.

A battle including Verstappen allowed Haas’ Ollie Bearman through, with the 20 year old British driver going onto finish fourth, his best result having previously run in the podium places after Hamilton was given a 10 second penalty for failing to rejoin correctly at turn four. Bearman was deservedly voted Driver of the Day for his stunning drive.

Oscar Piastri endured a poor start but recovered well to fifth, but has now lost the championship lead to his McLaren teammate.

Kimi Antonelli finished sixth for Mercedes ahead of teammate George Russell who was previously disgruntled with his team, and was followed over the line by ex-Mercedes man Hamilton. Esteban Ocon took ninth, ensuring double points for Haas and Gabriel Bortoleto took another rookie point home in 10th for Stake.

Elsewhere, mechanical problems saw races end early for Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Stake’s Nico Hulkenberg.

The next race is in Brazil.
