It has been announced that Apple have won Formula One broadcasting rights for the United States in a 5 year deal worth a reported $750m (£558m).
This news comes after F1 The Movie’s release in summer 2025. The film was an Apple Original, and received heavy investment from the tech giants and grossed nearly $630 million across the globe.
Before this announcement, Formula One had been broadcast on ESPN in the United States, with the deal being worth about $80 million per year.
Apple and Formula One anticipate that this move will draw in more fans and "maximise growth potential,” according to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

It is also believed that the Apple move will allow for Formula One to have a“premium and innovative fan-first coverage,” as stated by Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice-president of services.
It is also worth noting that F1 TV Premium will still be available to US customers, but will be via an Apple TV subscription.
This decision has divided fans, but ultimately Formula One believe that it will benefit the sport greatly.

Unless there is a TV network that strikes a secondary deal with Apple to play them on TVs this will hurt viewership. Sports bars are not going to get a Apple TV subscription. To me this was just a myopic cash grab on the part of F1 and an attempt to get more people to sign up for Apple TV
