Red Bull have been in turmoil since the start of last season, and that has been sucker punched now, as the team have sacked Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner, replacing him with Racing Bulls boss Laurent Mekies with immediate effect.

Horner has been with the team since their inception but as the team now sit fourth in the championship, Red Bull have taken the decision to sack the long serving boss.

Laurent Mekies has been announced as his replacement, having guided the Red Bull sister team - Racing Bulls - through the last year and a half since he replaced Frank Tost. Alan Permane, formerly of Alpine has been named as his replacement, having served as RB’s Sporting Director since the start of 2024.

Horner’s departure is the latest in a string of high profile changes, with Johnathan Wheatley (who’s team, Stake, have outscored Red Bull in recent races), Adrian Newey and others all having departed, with rumours swirling over Max Verstappen’s future still.
