F1 in 2025 could be shaping up to be incredible and record breaking for a number of reasons, but for Laura Mueller it is extra special.

Part of the restructuring at Haas, Mueller finds herself in a new role: race engineer for Esteban Ocon. In taking on the role, she becomes the first ever woman to be a Formula 1 race engineer, breaking ground for plenty of girls and women to follow in her footsteps.

In the space of 13 years, Mueller has worked her way from getting her Masters in Automotive Engineering, to Formula Renault 2.0 as an engineer, up to F1 performance engineer and now, promotion to race engineer for a Formula 1 race winner in the form of Ocon.

For 2025, she’ll be the voice we hear on TV when Ocon is chatting on his radio, and is a huge step forward to seeing more women in senior roles on race days, joining names like Hannah Schmitz with Red Bull and Carine Cridelich, the new head of strategy at the same team as Mueller.
