Prior to competing in F2, Bennett raced in Ginetta GT5 Challenge for two seasons with Elite Motorsport, winning five races and claiming a further 13 podiums. In 2022, he made the switch to single-seaters, choosing GB3 for and remaining there for three seasons. His first two years in GB3 were relatively uneventful, but in his third season, Bennett managed 14 podiums, including three wins. He was second in the championship.

In a statement following the announcement, Bennett said:
“I’m extremely happy to race with TRIDENT Motorsport in the 2026 FIA Formula 2 Championship."
"I am very grateful for this great opportunity and to continue fighting in the second tier. I can’t wait to get on track and achieve excellent results together.”
TRIDENT Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci also stated:
