Ahead of 2026, several members of The Laid Back Race Blog were tasked with choosing one moment of motorsport in 2025 that they thought was the best.
Here are Alex, Topher, Teagan and Amelia's picks!
Alex: Hulk on the podium…at last!

We had all assumed that a Nico Hülkenberg was never going to happen, right? Especially starting 19th, in a Sauber, at a damp Silverstone. And we all wanted it, didn’t we?
After 239 Grand Prix, multiple ‘nearly’ moments and a handful of heartbreaks…he did it.
‘Hulk’ managed the conditions expertly, dictating his own strategy and capitalising on other drivers’ woes to take a stunning third place, holding off Lewis Hamilton and battling former teammate Lance Stroll along the way. The popular German crossed the line behind both McLaren’s to take his first podium to the joy of himself, his team, teammates and much of the F1 paddock and fans.
Topher: The Ferrari dream for Kubica

There was a time when Robert Kubica was destined to be a Ferrari driver in Formula 1, before a near-fatal rallying crash scuppered the incredibly bright future he had in the top echelon having signed a Ferrari contract not long prior.
Fast forward 14 years, following an extensive rehabilitation process, a return to Formula 1, and a move to sportscars, the popular Pole stood on the top step of the podium at the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans in Ferrari colours (albeit yellow).
Sharing the victory with Philip Hanson and Yifei Ye, Kubica completed a redemption story which saw him go from the brink of oblivion to the ultimate euphoria with not a single racing fan unhappy to see him claim the Le Mans victory.
Teagan: The Indianapolis 500

Every year, the Indianapolis 500 delivers incredible racing with a side of chaos- only 19 drivers out of 33 finished this year’s 500.
Robert Shwartzman shocked everybody by claiming pole as a rookie, and it was chaos from before the green flag with Scott McLaughlin, a favourite for the win, crashing out on Lap 0.
Several other drivers met the wall across the 200 laps, and some suffered mechanical issues that prematurely ended their races.
After a long wait, Álex Palou finally claimed his Indianapolis 500 crown. Despite the fact that Palou only led 14 laps, he was a highly deserving victor and his 2025 IndyCar season was arguably one of the most impressive of all time.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a track that deserves immense respect, and clearly Álex Palou showed that.
Amelia: Williams return to the spotlight

In 2025, Williams Racing proved the sceptics wrong, climbing from backmarkers to fifth in the Constructors Championships with 137 points, a huge leap from the 17 points earned in the previous season.
Week after week, Alex Albon impressed with numerous top 5 finishes, while Carlos Sainz secured multiple podium finishes, including a hard earned 3rd in Azerbaijan.
The team's resurgence was built on consistency and smart strategy, guided by Team Principal James Vowles, whose leadership has arguably turned Williams into a disciplined and competitive team once again.
It wasn’t about dominating races, but about reliability, teamwork and making the most of every opportunity. Seeing Williams consistently fight at the front of the field once again was truly a top moment of the 2025 season.
