Trident sign Wheldon for 2027 F3 season

American racer Sebastian Wheldon will race in FIA Formula 3 in 2027, signing with Trident Motorsport for his rookie campaign.


The 17 year old graduates from Formula Regional European where he ended up as the series vice-champion behind Emanuele Olivieri, winning four races and taking an additional four podium as he raced with MP Motorsport.


Wheldon is the son of the late Dan Wheldon who passed away in an accident at the IndyCar 2011 season finale.


Trident have provided three of the last four F3 champions.


Wheldon: “I'm very happy to be competing in the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship with TRIDENT Motorsport. There's a lot of pressure, as I'll be racing for one of the most successful teams in the category. However, I love a challenge and will give my all to learn quickly and achieve good results. I'm extremely grateful to TWG Motorsports and Andretti Global for their support. I can't wait for next season to begin. Let's go!”
