Van Hoepen to contest sophomore F2 season with MP Motorsport

Laurens Van Hoepen will again feature on the FIA Formula 2 grid in 2027, switching from Trident Motorsport to MP Motorsport.

The 21 year old has enjoyed a strong first season with Trident in F2 after two F3 campaigns, and sits 10th in the current championship standings with five podiums to his name as well as a pole position.

The move marks a major shift in Van Hoepen’s career, as he looks to mount a strong championship challenge and support his F1 goal after some previous testing opportunities with Williams in older machinery.

Van Hoepen: “It’s good to finally join forces with a team that has been on my doorstep since my karting days,” said Van Hoepen. “I have witnessed their incredible success first-hand, especially in my last five seasons in FRECA and FIA F3, and with the experience of a season of Formula 2 under my belt, I’m confident that I can add more prizes to their impressive trophy cabinet.

“MP is a team of many nationalities now, but it still feels like a natural move to join the home team and race in the orange home colours.”
