Audi have announced that Johnathan Wheatley will depart his role as Team Principal with the team after one year in charge of the team. Former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has stepped into the role to replace the former Red Bull man.

Wheatley was installed by the then Swiss outfit before the Audi name took centre stage, and the 58 year old guided the team through their final Sauber affiliated stage, helping the team to their first podium finish since 2012, as Nico Hülkenberg (of all people) mustered an incredible third place finish at the 2025 British Grand Prix.

Former Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto has been named as Wheatley’s successor, his first time in that title role since 2022 when he departed the Scuderia. He’s been with Audi as the head of the Audi project since 2024 and will now take centre stage for the team as the face of the team.
